Canvas Embroidery
Wow, I am jazzed, put the quilting, knitting, crocheting, crewel work, rug-hooking aside for now to explore canvas embroidery again. Finished a 4 way bargello work into a pillow and started a canvas embroidery piece. I have been interested in exploring this for over 40 years and here I am getting the chance to make a piece, loving it.

Another lovely item
Today on my way to breakfast with a friend I drove along a side street and spied a lovely old witch-hazel bush blooming, one of our first spring harbingers, such a lovely sight.
I hope the beauties of spring are creeping up on all as well.

Excitement
Was browsing my favorite blogs the other day and found I was looking at a little sketch I had done for a Quilt U class with Lyric, the Artist's Toolbox. Wow, that was neat to see at
http://lyrickinard.blogspot.com/. I did do a little sketching today for fun, generally still putting the majority of my creative energy into organization these days.
The cat is claiming my lap, glad to be in from the rain, making typing difficult so that is probably all I have to say for now.

The day after Valentine's Day
Had a nice quiet day, a nice seafood dinner with the hubby, with a lovely dozen mixed roses and the exchange of new matching wedding bands. And quite warm again to boot!
This crazy weather has sent me into a frenzy of spring cleaning early this year. I should be doing taxes, instead I am cleaning out the pantry and drawers and cupboards and steam cleaning my floors. As there has been hardly any snow to shovel, I have had loads of energy for indoor work. My other creative projects have been tabled for awhile as the house gets its mid-year transformation in February of all months. But here it is almost 50 again, the loveliest winter we have ever enjoyed in these parts in my memory.

The snow has come and gone
...as has my youngest's 27th birthday. We had fun playing Clue and Password, eating smoked salmon and oysters, cheese and crackers and later filets and crab cakes with fresh asparagus and garlic bread, finished with strawberries on pound or angle food cake. A lovely springy meal. Today is a bit more clean-up from our day of celebration then off to run a few errands around time on a day promising to be sunny and 50.

February 1 and 65 degrees
This is not what we normally experience around here, but it is grand! Though hard to knit with wool or quilt when it is so warm. I keep expecting to see flowers blooming everywhere.
The mourning doves were calling this morning, ready to nest, wow! Feels like we have made that move south we are always considering each winter. Or maybe I should say aloha everyone.
