This is more like it
Starting with a bright orange and purple dawn, already to 50 maybe heading to 60.
Bugs flying around, sunshine teasing out blooms, dare we hope, spring may actually be arriving.

T.G.I.F.
The sun has decided to shine and maybe today it won't snow. The oddest weather, more winter than spring most days, but the flowers should get a boost today. It looks like it may be a kinder, gentler day today, we can only hope.

Hooray
It is bright sun and above freezing, maybe it will be another painting class like last week, scraping snow off my car to go to it and running the a/c on the way home.

Oh my, more snow in the forecast!
Attempting to warm up and brighten another day that is more winter than spring, with orange, banana, coconut muffins for a hint of the tropics. The palms will be shivering today.

Spring cleaning
And so it begins and so it continues.
The dust sifts in, we shoo it out.
The piles build up we take them down.
Dirty sheets are replaced by clean,
furniture is repolished.
Windows are brightened,
floors refinished, and on and on and on and on....

vernal equinox
crocuses, snowdrops, daffodils, and witch hazel all in bloom
veronica, alyssum, and henbit flowering in the grass
robins and cardinals, doves and jays,
house sparrows and wrens all calling for food

Snow and fog
A Hiroshige print
outside my window
as snow and fog
lie quietly and wetly
in flat shades of gray

Wedding quilt completed
A big finish, the wedding quilt is labeled and packaged to ship, around 90 hours of work in it. Cannot do the reveal until after the wedding day, so a couple of months to wait.
Working on spring wall-hangings now, soon should have a finish to show.

Pussy Willows
Pussy willows little gray furry heads
peeking out yesterday.
Though the snow and rain still come.

Probably allergies
Lots of cold wind yesterday and lots of cold symptoms last evening and this morning, but this is the time of year I usually get sick from allergies wearing me down, time will tell.
Hope all are well in the world as spring is less than a week away. Saw snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils yesterday.

Almost spring
Winter is still holding on today, but spring is creeping closer.
Daffodils and crocuses are appearing in bloom.
Brave little blossoms that may see more snow.

Wet and dark
Morning today is warm, wet and dark, very cozy for trying to finish the wedding quilt, which has been occupying my thoughts and hands. Maybe today it will be completed.
Birds are all roosting this morning, flowers waiting to open in the sun, kids and cats sleeping.

Spring at the lake
Yesterday brought out many folks to the lake, old couples, young families, dogs, dogs and more dogs, disc golfers galore, a few fishermen, more sea gulls.
We did not see any fish in the shallows, but the big lunkers must be rising.
No wildflowers, just the dry seed pods of last year's plants.

Baking
...and a little spring straightening.
Pumpkin, pumpkin seed, ginger, banana, oat, maple, sultana muffins.
Clearing out the knitting projects and needlepoint, organizing and storing painting supplies, all focus on finishing the wedding quilt in the next 10 days.
Then it is time to finish the taxes so I can get to the spring quilts waiting in the queue.

Time change
Up early but figuring tomorrow it wouldn't be so early. Lovely clear, still morning with a sliver of moon hanging in the eastern sky. Heading to the lake this morning to look at a house. The cat has already settled down for her morning nap, some one is up and stirring. Time to worry about breakfast, spinach quiche leftover from the other day and maybe a muffin or 2 before tomorrow's new baking.

March Fourth
March fourth,
who doesn't love that name
so resolute
so stalwart.
Out of winter into spring,
no faltering,
no missteps now,
just march forth.

The edge of winter
Flurries the past couple of days, all in all a quite manageable winter, no big snow dumps so far.
Predictions of warmer weather after a mid-week storm. So far only the golden crocuses have appeared, the others will follow when the warm-up comes. The sky is silvered again this morning, more pewter, than yesterday's powdered.

Suspended
Breaking free
from the moment
of anxious despair
When everything moves
from dormancy
to hope of regeneration
But, before the sap rises
there is the still point,
of wondering,
if you well and truly
had died
and did not yet know it.
